This year’s Black Women In Hollywood ceremony honored Cynthia Erivo, Teyana Taylor, Raamla Mohamed, and Myra Gibbs. From Oscar nominations to iconic TV shows, this group of women have made an indelible mark on pop culture.

HelloBeautiful was on the red carpet to capture the resplendent fashions in real time. The brightest Black stars descended upon the Fairmont Century Plaza in Hollywood where it was golden hour every hour. Images from inside the event show glowing faces and a variety of melanin.

All eyes were on the night’s honorees. Teyana Taylor arrived in a head-turning Amiri gown and her signature short cut. With a high slit and cut out details, Teyana oozed grown woman energy with every step on the Essence carpet.

Cynthia Erivo’s eye-popping look by Margiela was its own main character. Other it Hollywood actresses like Taraji P. Henson, Issa Rae, Niecy Nash, Laverna Cox, Gail Bean, Tishina Arnold, and more beamed with smiles as they crossed paths. Tyla owned the carpet in a sexy and flirty cream dress that accentuated her legs and clavicle.

Black men showed up and out to support their thespian counterparts. We caught up with Aldis Hodge on the red carpet, where we gave the cross actor his flowers, literally. When our social media manager, Char Masona handed the hunk a rose, he beamed with Black man joy. “I’m very hard with giving myself flowers,” he said. He took a pause to think of what he would give himself flowers for. “I try my best to do better than I can, I try my best to be better than I am.”
