INDIANAPOLIS — Biotech giant Roche has announced a $550 million investment in Indianapolis that will expand its diagnostics manufacturing hub by 2030.

With this expansion, the Swiss-based company will focus on manufacturing continuous glucose monitoring systems with the expectation to create hundreds of highly-skilled manufacturing jobs. Indianapolis will be seen as a key site for Roche’s glucose monitoring solutions which is crucial for managing diabetes.

“By expanding our manufacturing capabilities in Indianapolis, we ensure reliable access to innovative monitoring solutions for individuals living with diabetes in the U.S. and worldwide,” President and CEO of Roche Diagnostics North America Brad Moore said in the announcement.

Roche already has a significant presence in Indianapolis. The city serves as the North American headquarters for Roche Diagnostics under the Roche Group, the world’s largest biotech company. Roche’s Indianapolis campus currently produces approximately 5.2 billion Accu-Chek diabetes test strips annually.
