It’s always about a week before Mercury turns retrograde (Rx) that strange things begin to happen. My cell phone battery fails to keep a charge. I double book on appointments (or appointments get pushed back). There’s always some kind of misunderstanding that needs a quick resolution. Then of course are the big surprises – a lost love returns or I begin to seek them out once nostalgia creeps in. As much as this astro-phenomenon brings a peculiar anxiety that is unavoidable, I can’t help but to become more aware of its inherent benefit.
Maybe it’s not such a bad idea to return to an old relationship that failed for the sake of closure and the balancing out of Karmic influences (of course, there are those relationships that are pretty cut and dry and don’t need to be revisited!). Maybe a delayed start is necessary so that we may further assess our plans, becoming even more prepared for when they really do take off. Negotiations have reached a standstill? I bet there’s a reason for that too. As one of my dear mentors once said, “Life is not a dress rehearsal;” we could all stand to learn to be comfortable with uncertainty.
I’ll admit that Mercury Rx can be a thorn in my side. But this is a transit that occurs at least three times a year, forcing us to sit tight just a little bit longer, and that’s OK. A more worthwhile approach to dealing with the inevitable lags, traffic jams, malfunctions and breakdowns during this time would be to see it all as a part of a Divine process that shouldn’t concern you. What happens in the meantime could very well lead to a few blessings in disguise.

Taurus: It seems there are a few things under negotiation, Taurus. You may be in the process of signing a new contract, or signing up for a new certification course. Gemini: Over the past few weeks, I’ve been raving about how this is your time to shine, and that there’s a lot of energy coming your way during your birthday month, and how much luck you have on your side! Well, it’s all still true. But with Mercury retrograde in your sign, Gemini, you may have to go back to the drawing board with a couple of personal projects you’ve been trying to launch. Cancer: You may want to go on a real vacation, Cancer. I don’t mean with family, friends, or a spa visit. I mean a trip along the lines of “Where’s Waldo?” – on your own and for a few days. While you do have a ton of energy, if you keep at this pace you will burn yourself out by the time your birthday month comes around! A health matter may arise, especially if you’re not paying attention to the warning signs of your body, and stress could put you out for the count. Virgo: Mercury retrograde always affects your sign more intensely, Virgo (along with Gemini). That’s because Mercury rules your sign in Astrology, making you more susceptible to its backwards spin. Of course, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing. In fact, it might be quite helpful if you’re forced to go back to the drawing board with a professional project where you may have missed a few important details (you are detail oriented, after all!). Try not to think too much into the situation, and definitely avoid making any and all final decisions.
